Cooking for Our Lives is an educational, family-friendly online tutorial led by Adolescent Health Working Group (AHWG) and amazing volunteer chefs.
The event will broadcast on YouTube Live!
The event will feature delicious recipes, prizes, and share helpful resources! While participation is free, we are raising funds to support AHWG’s work. Your support ensures that we can:
- Create comprehensive evidence-based tools that support providers, caregivers, and young people
- Provide trainings on critical health issues that impact adolescent youth
- Convene meetings with providers to fortify systems of care for young people and advance adolescent youth health and wellness throughout California
You Can Cook With Us
Our Chefs will guide you step-by-step through our delicious menu:
- Guava Sunrise (drinks): Chef Mei Mei Tran
- Summer Vegetable Soba Noodle Salad: Chef Lauren Kiino
- Kalbi Tacos with a Pineapple Slaw: Chef Reilly Meehan
- Butter Mochi (dessert): Chef Ed with 9-year-old son Blaine
Cooking for Our Lives is a family-friendly online event and we encourage children to lend a hand in the kitchen!
Attendees will receive these exclusive recipes by our partner-chefs and a shopping list. These will be emailed in advance to attendees.
Our dinner menu and cooking instructions are suitable for groups of 4 to 6 people. Simply divide our recipes if you prefer to cook for one or two. Our recipes account for dietary needs (dairy-free, gluten-free).
All registered adults will automatically be enrolled in free prize drawings. Donations are not required to participate in the prize drawings.
All prize drawings will take place during the live broadcast where winners will also be announced. Winners do not need to participate in the live event. An email confirmation will be sent to all winners and response within 48 hours of notification is required to claim the prize. Winners must reside in the US as prizes will ship domestically within the US only.
AHWG will provide all attendees a first look at our newly-updated youth and parent/caregiver resources on healthy eating, body image, and parent/child communication. These resources will be provided for free and emailed to all individual registrants.

AHWG is Cooking for Our Life
While the event is absolutely free to attend, we are hoping that individuals, families, and companies can donate to support our work.
We are working especially hard right now to support communities impacted by COVID-19 and the many families that are feeling particularly isolated. Youth who rely on schools for safety, food, and freedom to express themselves are our priority. AHWG is raising money to expand on mental health support for middle school, high school, and college students impacted by distance learning.
We appreciate any financial support you can provide. It makes a huge difference for us and will help us continue our work in 2020 and beyond. If you are unable to donate at this time, we certainly understand and look forward to seeing you at this event.
Please note: Adolescent Health Working Group maintains its 501(c)3 status as a project of the Tides Center.
