How to Talk with Youth about Healthy Relationships
Talking to young people about relationships can be challenging, but remember that young people look at their most immediate adult relationships as models for their peer relationships (romantic and platonic).
This handout provides strategies for talking to youth about healthy relationships. It also includes topics to consider based on the age of your child.
Our resources for parents/caregivers are free to download. If this resource is beneficial for you or your practice, please consider supporting the Adolescent Health Working Group with a donation to keep our work going.
All of our present resources serve as handouts with information, tips, and resources. Note that our resources for parents/caregivers are not meant for direct youth consumption. However, these do contain resources for parents/caregivers to facilitate conversations with youth and their providers.
This resource was included in the Sexual and Reproductive Health Toolkit for Adolescent Providers, a resource designed for healthcare care providers but is applicable to many other providers, including school-based and youth program providers. You can learn more about Toolkit here.
