Be Real. Be Ready. - Lesson 22
Addressing Myths & Stereotypes Regarding People Living with HIV (An Extension or Alternative)
“Be Real. Be Ready.” is a comprehensive relationship and sexuality curriculum for high school students. The full curriculum is made up of 26 lessons. Educators are welcome to select which lessons best serve the needs of their students.
Lesson 22’s Objective:
- Lessons 22 offers two alternative lessons that can be used in case an HIV-positive speaker cannot present to the class (lesson #21) or it can be used as an extension lesson. Lesson #22a utilizes the MTV film, Think HIV: This is Me, and lesson #22b utilizes the MTV film, I’m Positive. The film in lesson #22a is shorter, allowing for more time for discussion. The film in #22b is newer, but much longer, leaving very little time for discussion. Both films can be found online through the MTV website.
