Body image is a difficult topic for many young people. They receive unrealistic messages from media about what our bodies “should” look like (thin or muscular depending on your perceived gender; and other expectations around race and body types).
It can be a challenge not to absorb those messages and feel inadequate. There is not one perfect body type, but instead a vast diversity of unique bodies that come in every shape, size, and color.
This new handout from the Adolescent Health Working Group is a resource for young people to think about body image, assess feelings about their body, share ideas on how to improve body image, and develop empathy for the experience of others.
AHWG is committed to providing resources to support the health of adolescent youth. Please consider supporting AHWG with a donation to ensure that we can continue creating resources that support young people.
