A Youth-Friendly Online Resource on Cannabis/Weed for Young People, Caregivers, and Educators

The City of San Francisco created a resource for youth and young adults to share factual information about cannabis.

Frequently folks share or believe myths about weed, and it can impact decisions that young people make. We want to always help young people to make the best decisions for themselves. Information on truthornahsf.org is shared with the intent to reduce negative consequences associated with cannabis consumption by young people.

Click here to view the overall website. There are short video clips found at the bottom of the homepage with links to additional helpful information about weed including impacts on health when cannabis is smoked versus an edible.

The specific questions that are answered on the website are as follows:

No one gets addicted to weed, right?
Is weed a good, safe way to cope with feeling down or getting anxious?
Can using weed mess up your brain?
Unless I bring it on campus, my school can’t do anything to me for using weed.
Using a little weed now can’t really affect my future, right?
Is it easy to tell edibles from regular brownies or gummies?
Are edibles safer than smoking or vaping weed?
Although weed is legal, can youth still get in trouble for buying, possessing, or using it in California?
Since weed is natural, it’s completely safe. It’s just a plant, right?
Will the cops pull me over if they see me smoking weed while driving?

Looking for more support? The site also allows you to ask your own questions related to cannabis/weed. This could be a unique resource for parents to talk to their kids and come up with questions together. Educators can also visit this site and have group discussions with their students.
